The Bunn husband-and-wife writing team here concludes "Heirs of Acadia," a 19th-century historical series (the previous titles are "The Night Angel, The Noble Fugitive, The Innocent Libertine", and "The Solitary Envoy"). Having just lost his beloved Ada, former ship captain John Falconer must decide if he should accede to a friend's request that he return to the sea to rescue the man's adult son being held for ransom on a Barbary pirate ship. When John agrees to go, his young stepson Matt decides to join him. Unfortunately, the action is often too flatly described, but the novel is well researched and will make a fitting conclusion to the series. Recommended for historical fiction collections and where the series is in demand. The Bunns live in England.Copyright 2007 Library Journal, LLC Used with permission.
